Michelle Obama once stated that she will \u201cnever forgive\u201d Donald Trump for spreading a conspiracy theory about her husband. Trump, of course, fired back with the most graceful of responses, claiming that he will never forget her husband\u2019s policies, which Trump seems to believe were ruining America. Ah, the art of subtlety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Politics: The never-ending circus. And let\u2019s be real\u2014policy can be really awful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obama was great at pretending we could all just sing \u201cKumbaya,\u201d but maybe it\u2019s not so impossible after all. Enter the hero of forgiveness: Nelson Mandela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mandela, the guy who spent 20 years in prison, didn\u2019t come out with a \u201cHey, I\u2019m back, and I\u2019m going to make all you apartheid guys pay!\u201d Instead, he gave us the truly shocking response of\u2026 forgiveness. And guess what? It worked. Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize and became a global symbol of hope. That\u2019s the power of forgiveness, apparently. But, hey, don\u2019t take my word for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But here\u2019s the million-dollar question: Can we really forgive and forget the misdeeds of our enemies? Sometimes, no. Sometimes, people do things that are so beyond the pale, forgiveness feels like a joke.
